Turk's Heads Made Easy!

Postby DanAnCan » Wed Jun 22, 2011 9:50 pm

Hey everybody...

the other night I was searching the net to try and find instructions on large sized Turk's Head Knots..

After hours of sifting through webpages, I found this:

http://khww.net/gridmaker.php

You can make any size that can be tied, and all you need to do is make a board with pins
( can be improvised, I used a piece of cardboard with nails in it  )

It's pretty easy to manipulate the way you want it to, even shows you how to tie the knot step-by-step. If you have trouble getting the hang of it, theres even a tutorial .

**Does not work with IE**

Let me know what you think...

I EASILY tied a 13Lx8B in about 5 minutes!, Heres what it looks like

I used this a number of times before picking up Don's Turkhead Tool from http://www.knottool.com/

Would love to see some pics of your TH's.

Well I guess we can see who's been around the tying hobby longer!
I've been trying to order from knottool, but I dont get any responses :(
I want the Globe knot cookbook!!!

I will definitely show you some finished work as I get them done. I am currently working on a Trilobite-Bar Belt w/ Buckles!

Is there by chance a similar program like this for globe knots??

I haven't seen one yet..

Seems odd that you haven't gotten a response. I know Don often does his e-mail in the morning. Perhaps try him again. I want the globe knot kit as well, but have no funds for it at the moment.

Got one this morning, but I'm going to have to wait for the mail strike to end...

UPS wants $90 to ship both kits. :(

I made a rig up at work today out of 4" PVC pipe for a 12B TH, going to attempt a 30 odd lead knot hehe, will post pics asap

As for the globe knot, when I get my hands on the kit I'd be happy to email you a sample :)

Cheers,

Dan

Don's tool and book is ..."Da Bom" for doing TH's quick. Many designs to choose from... Just a bit of dressing if the project is small but that's small potatoes. I recommend it and he has nice needles too
So many knotts . . . So little time . . .

You could also try JD's secret compartment fob although you may have to tie it kinda loose to fit a lighter in it, but you'd have plenty of working ends to make a cool strap for it.

I'm really happy for you, that your hobby is doing well, but once I tried to make something similar, I absolutely failed. So, now I fill up my time with viedo chat porn and don't care about it.
