Dog Collars and Leashes

Postby Rhodach » Thu Sep 20, 2012 6:04 am

I am new to this pastime and been waiting for my supplies of paracord, buckles etc to arrive, in the mean time I have been researching which designs would suit the novice but still produce a professional finish, any ideas.

So far the leashes I like have used alot of paracord, one was 22ft each of 2 colours which means my supplies are not going to last long, now understand why they are so expensive to buy ready made.

I am waiting for JD's book to come back into stock at Amazon UK so I can get inspiration from there.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated

Thanks

check the most recent post on "research and investigation" called "need help identifying this weave pattern". itll first show 2 pictures of a weave but keep looking to the right and you will see the dog collar he made for his dog. Hope this helps!

Some people want to put high prices on their collars and leashes, but in all reality they shouldn't. I mean you can get 100' of cord for around $7.00, 25 large collar buckles for like$10.00, 3/8" leash clip for like under$2.00, and d-rings for hardly nothing. Some people want to charge$35.00 and up for collars and leashes that take about an hour to make tops once you have done a couple. It just seems crazy to mark them up that high when you have so little invested in each one.

Many times pricing depends on location. Stuff I sell at home for $7.50 I could probably sell for $20 in Seattle. Why? I live in an area chock full of crafty (as in making craft items) people and stuff won't sell at inflated prices here. Areas where there are fewer crafters see higher prices.

Price your creations at a point that doesn't cause you to lose sleep and be happy. ;)
