Could anyone shed a little light on this one?

Hrrm... I've not seen that before.

The only question now is...how do we tie it?

Well done!

i used the figure of 8 in the palm of the hand method to form the lanyard knot but carried the running ends around 360 degrees rather than 180 degrees

Now you just need to come up with a cool sounding name for it. Looks great! I'm going to have to try that variation on a couple of fobs I'm tying for Christmas.

Matt~my 7 year old grandson may have come up with a name for this knot. While I was tying it last night, he says that it reminded him of an acorn. He even pulled an acorn or two out of his treasure box to show me. Acorn stopper knot sounds as good a name as any, I guess.

When you say figure 8 are you meaning how the button knot is done? But just wrap around fully instead of only half way before going through the middle?
Hey, wanna tie the knot? Give me a hand with my Solomon Bar? Nothing suss.....
